G5: 1892 Mary Shiels

Mary Shiels was born in 1892. She was the second child of George and Margaret (McMorran) Shiels. She was called “Moll” by the family. Mary never married and worked all her life in the shoe business. Upon the death of her sister Agnes, the shoe business was sold, as Mary wanted to retire. She was ultimate heir to East Mains, having inherited it in equal shares with her sister Agnes and her brother Robert from their Aunt Barbara.

Mary passed East Mains on to her nephew George Shiels and she lived her last years in a house at Biggar. She died June 2, 1976 and is buried at Coulter.
