Elizabeth Shiels was born in 1872 and was the second child born to Thomas Prentice Shiels and Margaret Avery. She was an eighth generation descendant of Micheal Shiels.

G8: Elizabeth Shiels 1872-1948 & Josiah Maltman

Elizabeth Shiels was born July 26, 1872 in Cranbrook, Ontario, Canada. She was the second child of Thomas Prentice Shiels and Margaret Avery. She left Canada and moved to Fort Ransom, North Dakota with her parents.

She married Josiah Maltman on December 30, 1891, in Lisbon, North Dakota, USA. Three children were born in North Dakota, Etta May Maltman 1892; Roy Stanley Maltman 1894 and Freda Ann Maltman 1896. The family moved west and a daughter Lavilla Margaret Maltman was born in 1897 in Washington.  They moved on to Oregon where the remaining children were born. Gladis Elizabeth maltman 1900; Blance Marcella Maltman 1903; John Lloyd Maltman 1905; Clara Luella Maltman 1907; Florence Avery Maltman 1910 and Ruth Charlotte Maltman 1911. 

Josiah died on November 21, 1941, in Eugene, Oregon, USA, at the age of 80. Elizabeth died on January 15, 1948, in Eugene, Oregon, USA, at the age of 75.

G9: Irene Maltman 1888-1981 & Grover Holeman

Irene Maltman was born April 16, 1888 in Fort Ransom, North Dakota. She was the first child of Josiah and Elizabeth (Shiels) Maltman. She married Adam Grover Holeman on August 10, 1910 in Junction City, Oregon, USA.

Irene & Grover lived at Junction city and Eugene before moving to the Jefferson-Albany area in 1921. Grover was a railway express clerk.

They had one daughter, Mildred Ethel Holeman, born July 3, 1911 in Eugene, Oregon.

Grover died on March 24, 1963, in Albany, Oregon, USA, at the age of 79. Irene died on June 21, 1981, at the age of 93.

G10: Mildred Holeman 1911-2004 & Harry Warner

Mildred Holeman was born July 3, 1911 in Eugene, Oregon. She was the first child of Adam and Irene (Maltman) Holeman. 

She moved to Albany in 1921 lived her whole life there. She graduated from Albany High School in 1929 and attended Oregon State College for two years. She graduated from Western Oregon State College in 1932. She took graduate courses and study tours abroad with Oklahoma State College and the University of Maine and the University of Wyoming in the field of children’s literature. She was the children’s librarian at the Albany Public Library until she retired.

Mildred was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Albany Friends of the Library, Modern Traveler’s Club, Chi Sigma and the Linn County Retired Educators.

She married Harry Warner on January 29, 1933 and they had three children, Karl Richard born July 27, 1937, Mary Jean born May 14, 1943 and Roger Harry born May 6, 1946. Harry was a Doctor.

Harry died January 24, 1966 and Mildred married David Grant Blake on March 20, 1996, in Linn, Oregon, USA.

David died May 16, 2004 and Mildred died on November 3, 2004, in Albany, Oregon, USA, at the age of 93.

G11: Karl Richard Warner 1937 & Bernie

Karl Richard Warner was born on July 27, 1937, to Mildred Ethel Holeman, age 26, and Harry Richard Warner, age 27.

Karl Richard married Bernie and they lived in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1966. They moved to Tillamook, Oregon, USA and were living there in 2000. No other information is available at this time.

G11: Mary Jean Warner 1943 & Ernest H Sanders

Mary Jean Warner was born on May 14, 1943, to Mildred Ethel Holeman and Harry Richard Warner.

She married Ernest H Sanders on August 12, 1961, in Albany, Oregon, USA. No other information is available at this time.

Roger Warner was born on May 6, 1946, to Mildred Ethel Holeman and Harry Richard Warner.

Etta May Maltman was born September 18, 1892, in North Dakota, USA. She was the second child of Josiah and Elizabeth (Shiels) Maltman.

She married Fred A. Urick on May 12, 1917, in Stevenson, Washington, USA. They never had children.

Fred died on April 3, 1939, in Marion, Oregon, USA, at the age of 51. Etta died on May 8, 1948, in Portland, Oregon, USA, at the age of 55.

G9: Roy Stanley Maltman 1894-1976 & Myrtle Barber 

Roy Stanley Maltman was born May 31, 1894 in North Dakota, USA. He was the third child of Josiah and Elizabeth (Shiels) Maltman.

Roy married Myrtle Barber and had one son William. After Myrtle died, Roy married Marie Laura Aurelia Marion on November 23, 1945, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Roy died on January 3, 1976, in Pompano Beach, Florida, USA, at the age of 81.

G10: William L Maltman 1921 & Mary Elizabeth Earl

William L Maltman was born April 30, 1921 in Edmonton, Albert. He was the first child of Roy and Myrtle (Barber) Maltman.

William L Maltman married Mary Elizabeth Earl in Lane, Oregon, USA, on September 14, 1944, when he was 23 years old. They had three children; Anne Elizabeth born May 6, 1948; Robert Charles born August 10, 1956 and John Robert born April 10, 1962.

Lavilla died in Tacoma, Washington, USA although we do not have a date.

She married Thomas Harper and after they were divorced, she married Andrew Krause. Gladis died on November 24, 1972 in Eugene, Oregon.

She married Thomas Harper on May 17, 1919, in Lane, Oregon, USA. After they were divorced, Gladis married Andrew Krause on November 11, 1945, in Summit, Ohio, USA. Gladis died on November 24, 1972, in Eugene, Oregon, USA, at the age of 72.

Blance Marcella Maltman was born September 20, 1903 in Eugene, Oregon, USA. She was the seventh child of Josiah and Elizabeth (Shiels) Maltman.

Blance died on October 27, 1918 in her hometown when she was only fifteen years old.

John Lloyd Maltman was born November 5, 1905 in Oregon, USA. He was the eighth child of Josiah and Elizabeth (Shiels) Maltman. John never married and died on September 3, 1955 at the age of 49.

Florence Avery Maltman was born February 10, 1910 in Oregon, USA. She was the tenth child of Josiah and Elizabeth (Shiels) Maltman.

She married Dale Frederick Croner on October 12, 1935, in Lane, Oregon, USA. She then married Thomas Peter Turcott on April 23, 1957, in Klamath, Oregon, USA.

Florence died on October 29, 1989, in Eugene, Oregon, USA, at the age of 79.
