Dan Shiels is the webmaster for this site and is also the author of the Shiels Family History Book shown on the website.
Dan has been involved in Genealogy since 1980 and wrote his initial book in 2002. The latest book is 340 pages and was published in 2025.
Dan Shiels was born near Bernice, north of Napinka, Manitoba on Sept 5,1951. He was the 3rd child of George Shiels and Betty Jones.
He grew up in the Napinka, Manitoba area and following graduation, he went to Calgary for a year. When he returned to Manitoba, he started working for Manitoba Hydro where he had an exciting career for nearly 38 years. After retirement, he formed his own consulting company and worked for another 10 years all over the world, including a General Manager position in Saudi Arabia for nearly 5 years.
Dan married Judy Vandaele in 1973 and they have two grown children.
Dan & Judy have travelled to 61 countries worldwide. They have been in 38 of the states in the USA and 7 of the 10 Canadian provinces.
