Anne Shiels was born Mar 9, 1831 in Culter, Lanarkshire. She was the 7th child of Thomas Shiels & Barbara Jean Cranston.
She married Robert Walkinshaw on Dec 9, 1849 in West Linton, Peeblesshire. Robert was born May 6, 1833 in Carnwath, Lanarkshire.
They had 6 children in West Linton, Peeblesshire. Barbara was born in 1851 and died in 1858. Jane Walkinshaw was born Feb 14, 1855 and Anne Walkinshaw was born Jan 26, 1857. Because their daughter Barbara had died in 1858, the next daughter was also named Barbara and she was born Apr 25, 1859. A son John Walkinshaw was born Mar 3, 1861 and a second son Thomas was born Dec 2, 1862.
Tragedy struck this family again in 1868 when their son Thomas died on Aug 22 and a month later, John died on Sept 30, 1868.
After losing three of her children, Anne died on Apr 5, 1877 when she was only 45 years old. Robert passed away on Aug 18, 1904 in Carnwath when he was 71 years old.
Jane Walkinshaw (G7) 1855-1901 & John Lamb
Jane Walkinshaw was born Feb 14, 1855 in West Linton, Peeblesshire. She was the 1st child of Anne Shiels & Robert Walkinshaw.
She married John Lamb on Aug 25, 1875 in Carnwath, Lanarkshire. John was born in 1850 in Carnwath. John worked as a Mason.
They had 4 children; Robert Lamb was born in 1878 in Edinburgh; James Lamb was born in 1879 in Edinburgh; John Lamb was born Jun 26, 1881 in Edinburgh and William Lamb was born in 1887 in Carnwath.
Jane died in 1901 in Carnwath when she was only 45 years old. John had died earlier on Jul 26, 1890 at the age of 40.
Barbara Walkinshaw (G7) 1859-1934 & John Masterson
Barbara Walkinshaw was born Apr 25, 1859 in West Linton, Peeblesshire. She was the 3rd child of Anne Shiels & Robert Walkinshaw.
She married John Masterson in 1877. John worked for the Railroad.
They had 8 children, Annie W Masterton born Apr 1, 1878; John Masterton born in 1880; Thomas Masterton born Apr 25, 1881; David Masterton born 1884; William 1886; Alexander Masterton Feb 2, 1888; Helen Masterton Feb 23, 1891 and James Masterton in 1893.
In the 1901 census, they also had James, John & William Lamb living with them. They were children of Barbara’s sister Jane Walkinshaw. Jane was not well and her husband had recently passed away.
John Masterson passed away in 1910. Barbara lived to be 75 years of age and died in 1934.
