Thomas Shiels (6th Gen) 1861-1900 & Isabella Dalgleish

Thomas Shiels was born Mar 21, 1861 in Easter Kinleith, Currie, Midlothian, Scotland. He was the 8^th and youngest child of George Shiels and Mary White.

He married Isabella Dalgleish in 1881 in Liberton Midlothian Scotland.

They had 4 children, Sarah Innes Shiels in 1884, George Shiels in 1885, Isabella Shiels in 1890 and Jemima Dalgleish Shiels in 1896.

In the 1891 census, Thomas was listed as a Brewers Laborer. Thomas died on Feb 20, 1900 in Newington Edinburgh Midlothian, Scotland when his youngest child was only 4 years of age. Isabella died on 6 May 1932, in Newington Edinburgh Midlothian, Scotland.

Sarah Innes Shiels (7th Gen) 1884-1914 & Samuel Brydon

Sarah Innes Shiels was born in 1884 in Edinburgh. She was the 1^st child of Thomas Shiels & Isabella Dalgleish.

In 1906, she married Samuel Brydon in Edinburgh. They only had one child, Barbara Brydon. Barbara was born and died in 1906.

Sarah died on Jan 24, 1914 in Newington Edinburgh Midlothian, Scotland.

George Shiels (7th Gen) 1885-1914 & Lilian Burnett

George Shiels was born in 1885, Edinburgh. He was the 2^nd child of Thomas Shiels & Isabella Dalgleish.

George joined the Military on Apr 10, 1908. Prior to that, he was listed as a warehouseman. He was listed as a Piper in the Royal Scots.

George married Lilian Burnett in 1914 and they have a son, George Shiels on Mar 7, 1915. George died on Oct 13, 1914 at the Craigleith Military Hospital Edinburgh Midlothian, Scotland, 5 months before his son was born.

George Shiels (8th Gen) 1915-1984 & Winifred Owen McLaren

George Shiels was born Mar 7, 1915 in Newington, Midlothian. He was the only child of George Shiels and Lilian Burnett.

George’s father was a soldier and he died before George Jr was born.

George married Winifred Owen McLaren in 1940 in Canongate. They had one daughter, Patricia Lorraine Shiels in 1946 at St Georges, Edinburgh. Patricia never married and died in 1981.

George died in 1984 and Winifred passed away on Mar 1, 1988.

Isabella Shiels (7th Gen) 1890-1982 & William Singer

Isabella Shiels was born in 1890 in Edinburgh. She was the 3^rd child of Thomas Shiels & Isabella Dalgleish.

On Jun 4, 1909, she married William Singer in Lykefinderrs Hall, Edinburgh.

They had two children, Isabella D. Singer in 1910 and Cecila Irvine Singer on Apr 18, 1915.

William fought in WWI from 1914-1920 and was with the 8^th Att 1/8 Rs Lothian R (Territorial Forces). He died in 1939 in Edinburgh. Isabella lived to be 92 and passed away on Jan 25, 1982 in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.

Jemima Dalgleish Shiels (7th Gen) 1896-1976 & Archibald Mitchell McLean

Jemima Dalgleish Shiels was born in 1896 in Edinburgh. She was the 4^th child of Thomas Shiels & Isabella Dalgleish.

On Oct 17, 1913, she married Archibald Mitchell McLean in Newington, Edinburgh.

They had 4 children, Isabella Dalgleish McLean 1914, Archibald Shiels Mitchell McLean 1916, Jemima Shiels McLean 1922 and Thomas Shiels McLean 1931. Jemima died on Feb 14, 1976 in Newington, Edinburgh, Midlothian at the age of 80 years.
