Reviewing and Refining the Family History
With the main generations and family branches now online, we began a detailed review of the individual pages throughout Shiels.ca.
Each page was checked for consistency, readability and accuracy. Headings and page layouts were standardized, photographs were reviewed and improved where possible, and family stories were edited to make them easier to follow while preserving the memories and details that make each person’s story unique.
The review also provided an opportunity to correct information as our research developed. Family history is never really finished; new records, photographs and recollections can change our understanding of events that happened generations ago. Shiels.ca was designed with that in mind, allowing the family history to continue growing and improving as new information becomes available.
By September 17, the rebuilt website had developed a consistent look and structure across the main family pages, making it much easier to move from one generation or branch to another.
